The Tide Has Changed

(TOP PHOTO) Top 3 Overall Winners of Cebu round-2 with Race organizers.jpg A surprising twist happened in the 2nd round of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series in Cebu as Jong King of No Care Racing took top honors last Saturday, April 4, 2009, at the CICC grounds in Mandaue City, Cebu.

New faces were seen in the pit areas and new cars were also present. The CICC grounds were jam-packed as both racers and enthusiasts were on site to enjoy the sights and sounds of this thrilling sport. Aside from the regular categories that were contested in the 1st round, new categories were formed such as the Rear-Wheel Drive Class and All Automatic Class which fell with the other special classes like the All-BMW Class, All-Wheel Drive Class, and the Old School Class.

The regular participating cars were also present like DGL’s Honda CR-X and Mitsubishi Evolution 4, but new cars blew the audience away as two Nissan 300 ZX appeared and new BMWs arrived.

In this one-day event, David Lim of DGL Motorsports, dominated the time charts in 4 categories. As time progressed and other classes and drivers came and went, a lower time came in to the score sheets and Jong King emerged as the fastest driver of the afternoon. Although Lim pushed harder, King still maintained his lead by 0:00.32 seconds.

The Racing Line would like to THANK their sponsors of the 2nd round Castrol Edge, Dew Foam, Federal Tires, Outlast Battery, Carlito’s Pizza, our media partners are Y101, Sun Star Daily, Freeman, Cebu Daily news and RCTV
