THE RACING LINE’S REGIONAL UNDERBONE GRAND PRIX
ROUND ONE DAVAO CITY

The first round of The Racing Line’s Regional Underbone Grand Prix had a very huge turn out with more than 120 Racers and 28 Race teams participated in the opening race of the 2011 Race season dubbed as “The Battle Begins”. It was indeed a great battle between the top teams in Mindanao between Castrol-Honda MB101, Phonenix-RM Gear Racing, Nanto System, Daguio Racing Team, Motor-R, Davao Scooter Club and DMBC.
The 2011 Race Season started off with the launching party two days before the race, held at Wheels & more drive, racers and teams were introduced to the media and guests, raffle prizes and fun games were conducted during that night, a fellowship before the battle.
In the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter championships, squares off with the first of the two categories of this race presented by Pioneer Mighty Gasket is the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter 160 Beginners, over 15 racers on the grid sporting various 4AT Scooters available in the market today, Yamaha Mio, Honda Beat and Suzuki Step. John Anthony Rasula of DMBC draw first blood in this race, taking on the pole position in the final heat and never looked back up to the checkered flag. The battle for 2nd and 3rd position was exciting between Rheyniel Lozada of DMBC and the youngest rider of the race April King Mascardo of Phoenix Honda RM Gear Racing, wheel to wheel battle from the start to finish, Mascardo had many close looks in taking Lozada, but to no avail. Lozada maintained his line got second place, Mascardo settle for 3rd.
In the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter Novice Open, Vingie Coloma of Motor-R got pole position however experienced problems in the opening lap of the final heat, he had a sharp turn on the first corner and was out of balance, Roland King Ganotise got the lead and never looked back. Coloma slide down to the 9th position and was able climbed up to 5th at the end of the race. Dennis Geno Malasa of Davao Scooter club maintained his position till the checkered flag, got second place.
April King Mascardo of RM Gear Phoenix Racing got two wins in the first round of the race, winning the beginners 130 and 100-125 super stock beginners class, the youngest rider of the season almost had a perfect race if he had won the Scooter race.
In the Novice Open 4-Stroke, it was another day in the office for Vingie Coloma of Motor-R, Coloma started in pole position, never looked back from start to finish. Clifford Bacus of Repsol-Nanto System also had a good finish in the second heat of the race, finishes eventually behind Coloma. Both riders are winners of the Yamaha GP finals, who represented the Yamaha Philippines in Yamaha Asean Cup in Malaysia last 2010.
“It was a very huge turn out, we didn’t expect this one in the first race of the year” Jong Uy said, race chairman and founder of Regional Underbone Grand Prix. “We would like to thank Castrol Philippines for their continued support, we cannot improve as big as this without them”, he added.
