The last round of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series Davao was a team DGL Motorsports Cebu showdown. Team DGL Motorsports Cebu has brought the house down in Davao as they dominated more than half of the classes in Davao.
David Lim jr. displayed awesome consistency and superb driving as he beat his father David Lim for the time this year using a stock Honda CRX 1500. David Lim Jr. clocks in at 1:02.03 the fastest time of the day so far in the Novice Modified-A class. He then beat his own time at 1:01.67 in the Experienced Modified-A using the same car, however the father, David Lim clocks in at 1:00.89 securing the time to beat so far after the Experience Modified-B class. In the Open-A class, David Lim Jr. regain his momentum as beat his father for the first time, clocks in 1:00.70 surprising everybody in the sideline using the same Honda CRX.
But the quest for the 2009 Davao driver of the year was a story needed to be told, before coming into this race, it was a three way tie for Hernel John Jao, Peitro Jaldon and George Arquiza with 34 points a piece. Pietro Jaldon surprises everybody as he doesn’t have a car to race for that day. So now it becomes a two way battle for the driver of the year. Both drivers Jao and Arquiza are having a race of their own, trying to get the best time each and every run they have.
In the end of the race, thou both drivers never got a chance to win because of an all DGL Motorsports showdown but they were able to secure their own places in the championships. Hernel John Jao emerge champion in the quest for the rider of the year as he clocks in at 1:04.48 and was able to get 6 points for the championship points standing while George Arquiza only manages 1:07.11 and got no point for the matter.
The five round series of the Philippine Autocross Championship Series was a huge success in Davao, it was one of the most well attended race series in the Motorsports history of the City with more than a hundred entries and thousands of spectators. The 2010 series resumes on March 2010 and annual awarding ceremonies will be happening on December 20, 2009 during The Racing Line Christmas party.
