AutoCross takes Cebu by storm

The first round of the Regional Autocross Championship Series took Cebu by storm last January 10 and 11, 2009 at Park Mall 168 in Mandaue City, Cebu. An overwhelming 63 motorsports enthusiasts with 122 entries joined the 2 day event which was in tandem with a Go Kart race. The event, which was organized by 5th Gear Motorsports headed by Jong Uy, who is also the producers of The Racing Line, the only regional motoring TV show in partnership with Peak Summit Group headed by Neil Labrador, together with the Clerk of Course and Chief Race Director Danny Santiago of Shago Racing Manila welcomed the long time drag racers and newbies to the track.
A small race briefing was held to give the participants a heads-up on what to expect in the race. They were also oriented with the timing system and the course of the track. The drivers were then given a one-on-one hands-on briefing by Danny Santiago.
On Sunday, race day, participants came to the make-shift race track bringing their vehicles. An assortment of cars ranging from the everyday Hondas to the exotics such as an Audi TT Convertible, BMW’s, Subaru’s, and old school favorites such as Toyota Starlets and a Toyota Corolla Liftback were on site for the one day event.
