The 3rd round of the Philippine Autocross Championship series returned to Parkmall Mandaue City, Cebu. This is where the opening race of the 2009 season was held. After the 2nd round at CICC were the racers in Cebu experienced a drag race start up grid, were also given another dose of drag race type of start up, but in a technical fashion this time. The track designed by Danny Santiago of Shago Racing who is also the race director of the series.
David Lim of DGL Motorsports dominated the race all throughout, top three drivers of the team namely David Lim, Mato Tan and David Lim jr. made a 1 2 3 finish for the overall fastest time of race which made David Lim ahead of 10 points from his team mate Mato Tan and 12 points ahead of Jong King of team NCR who won round number 2 at CICC. It could have been a tie for the first place when both drivers Mato Tan and David Lim clocks in at 39.35 in the experience modified C and Open B respectively. David Lim regains his posture in the Open-C run, clocks in the fastest time of race at 38.97.
One of the surprises of the race was team NCR’s Dennis Corro who drove the Chery QQ above its expectations, winning the Novice Stock A class clocking in 46.79 on the track beating team mate Philip Khan Lim. Team NCR fielded the biggest output in terms of entries participated with over 40 entries and more than 15 drivers on the team.
Round-3 of the season was one of the most successful race of the year so far with over 150 entries participated with more than a dozen race teams and auto clubs.
