THE RACING LINE’S REGIONAL UNDERBONE GRAND PRIX
ROUND 3, TAGUM CITY (Mindanao Series round-3)

April King Mascardo of Phoenix-Honda RM Gear won all three categories he participated in The Racing Line’s Regional Underbone Grand Prix in Tagum City. The 13 year old kid won the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 160 Beginners open, 100-125 Beginners Open and the Beginners 130cc outclassing all his opponents who are much older than him, while team mate Chriss Karlo Samoga won two categories at the same time the Novice 130 and the Novice 4-Stoke Open.

In the Pioneer Mighty Gasket Scooter 160 Beginner Open final heat, Mascardo was leading up to 3rd lap until his rear tire slip in the hairpin curve going into the inner part of the track, Rheyniel Lozada of Davao Scooter Club took the lead. Mascardo pick himself up quickly as he maintains the second position and charge back at Lozada. Lozada was able to maintain the lead, smoothly navigates around series of back markers while Mascardo was simply closing on him. Mascardo was able to take the lead back from Lozada at the second corner of the final lap of this category, wheel to wheel battle from corner to corner up to the checkered flag. Mascardo wins the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT Scooter beginner 160 Open.

In the MTRT 4AT Scooter First Timers Open, first timer rider of Honda – Motorbikes-101 Anthony Redoble was simply amazing. Starting at pole position of the MTRT 4AT Scooter 130 first timers failed to react in the starting light. He then crosses the start finish line last in the opening lap of the race. He charges back and was able to get close at 2nd position at lap #3, he was able to maintain that position until he slip his rear tires going into the 4th turn oval and slide down to 5th place. He pick himself up quickly and charges back at the race leaders, sheer determination and composure, he was able to get close to 2nd place in the last lap and was able to take on the race leader in the last corner of the race track and crosses the finish line in a very exciting fashion. Anthony Redoble got his first championship only on his second race.

In this round, marks a substantial number of scooter racers, a total of 45 entries in the scooter category alone with 18 racers joined the first timers class, simply implying that automatic scooters are really the top choices for racing nowadays. Phoenix- Honda RM gear and Honda – Motorbikes 101 simply dominated all the 4AT Scooter Category of this round, getting the well deserved championships points in the scooter category closing in to their strong rival, the top guns of scooter in Mindanao, the Davao Scooter Club. This will be an exciting indication of what will the Davao Scooter Club will do in the next round in Cagayan de oro for them to maintain their domination in the 4AT-Scooter Category. Two races to go in the 2011 season, nothing is more exciting than this one, who will dominate the scooter category in the land.

“It was a very exciting and surprising race, it was exciting because of the hard fought battle in all the race heats, no lopsided victories and it was surprising because we had more than 130 entries and 45 of which come from the scooter division” Jong Uy said Race Chairman and Founder of Regional Underbone Grand Prix. “This is also an indication of how people here in Mindanao esp Davao and Tagum is mature when it comes to racing, continuous development of not only their respective skills but also technology, that is why we have to support them very well because they already have the talent, let us help them grow, so we really would like to THANK our sponsors who continuously supporting us, this motorsports and the riders as well.”

The Racing Line would like to THANK the sponsors for this race, the number one motor oil in the country, Castrol Power One, Yamaha Motors Philippines, Pioneer Mighty Gasket, MTRT Racing, Golden Bliss Party Haus our Media partners, Inside Racing, Motorcycle Magazine, Wild FM and Mindanao times. The Racing Line also would like to thank the City of Tagum and Mayor Rey T. Uy for his continuous support to our race cause. More than 100 entries and riders participated in this huge round 2 of the premiere underbone circuit racing in the Visayas and Mindanao area.

Ernie Daguio Jr. of DRT mean all business in this race, winning only one race in round one cannot be denied this time. Winning both races in the Novice 130 and Novice Open 4-Stroke class, Daguio poised to become the only rider who will win two Rider of the Year awards since the beginning of the regional underbone grand prix in 2007. In heat one of the Novice 130, Daguio was leading all the way ahead of Coloma, until in the last two laps of the race was caught up with a back marker as Coloma pass him in the outside, Daguio was so furious and made a major comeback in the second heat, didn’t look back from start to finish as Coloma settle for second.

April King Mascardo does it again, the youngest rider of the series made back to back to back wins in this second round, duplicating his output in the first race with a plus, the RM Gear-Honda-Phoenix Racer leads a batch of highly talented racers for the year’s highest beginners award, Rookie of the year. Mascardo wining the 100-125 super stock, the Beginners 130 class and the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT Scooter beginners 160.

Vingie Coloma of Motor-R, despite settling to second in two occasions behind Daguio has also one shining moment in the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT Scooter Open, never looked back from start to finish. Coloma now leads the class championships for the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter Open.

“It was a very exciting race and the racers was so happy with the race track, sporting a long right hand curve-stretch of almost 160 meters with wide turns and swiping curves made all the difference and we would like to thank Pilipinas Makro for that” Jong Uy said, Race chairman and founder of the Regional Underbone Grand Prix. “It was one of the race to remember, the jam-packed crowd was so wild and excited. We would like to thank our sponsors, the number one motorcycle oil in the country, Castrol Power One, Yamaha Motors Philippines, Pioneer Mighty Gasket” He added.

The Regional Underbone Grand Prix is brought to you by Castrol Power One, Yamaha Motors Philippines, Pioneer Mighty Gasket, our Media Partners, Inside Racing magazine, Motorcycle Magazine, Wild FM, Hit Radio and The Mindanao Times.

The first round of The Racing Line’s Regional Underbone Grand Prix had a very huge turn out with more than 120 Racers and 28 Race teams participated in the opening race of the 2011 Race season dubbed as “The Battle Begins”. It was indeed a great battle between the top teams in Mindanao between Castrol-Honda MB101, Phonenix-RM Gear Racing, Nanto System, Daguio Racing Team, Motor-R, Davao Scooter Club and DMBC.

The 2011 Race Season started off with the launching party two days before the race, held at Wheels & more drive, racers and teams were introduced to the media and guests, raffle prizes and fun games were conducted during that night, a fellowship before the battle.

In the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter championships, squares off with the first of the two categories of this race presented by Pioneer Mighty Gasket is the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter 160 Beginners, over 15 racers on the grid sporting various 4AT Scooters available in the market today, Yamaha Mio, Honda Beat and Suzuki Step. John Anthony Rasula of DMBC draw first blood in this race, taking on the pole position in the final heat and never looked back up to the checkered flag. The battle for 2nd and 3rd position was exciting between Rheyniel Lozada of DMBC and the youngest rider of the race April King Mascardo of Phoenix Honda RM Gear Racing, wheel to wheel battle from the start to finish, Mascardo had many close looks in taking Lozada, but to no avail. Lozada maintained his line got second place, Mascardo settle for 3rd.

In the Pioneer Mighty Gasket 4AT-Scooter Novice Open, Vingie Coloma of Motor-R got pole position however experienced problems in the opening lap of the final heat, he had a sharp turn on the first corner and was out of balance, Roland King Ganotise got the lead and never looked back. Coloma slide down to the 9th position and was able climbed up to 5th at the end of the race. Dennis Geno Malasa of Davao Scooter club maintained his position till the checkered flag, got second place.

April King Mascardo of RM Gear Phoenix Racing got two wins in the first round of the race, winning the beginners 130 and 100-125 super stock beginners class, the youngest rider of the season almost had a perfect race if he had won the Scooter race.

In the Novice Open 4-Stroke, it was another day in the office for Vingie Coloma of Motor-R, Coloma started in pole position, never looked back from start to finish. Clifford Bacus of Repsol-Nanto System also had a good finish in the second heat of the race, finishes eventually behind Coloma. Both riders are winners of the Yamaha GP finals, who represented the Yamaha Philippines in Yamaha Asean Cup in Malaysia last 2010.

“It was a very huge turn out, we didn’t expect this one in the first race of the year” Jong Uy said, race chairman and founder of Regional Underbone Grand Prix. “We would like to thank Castrol Philippines for their continued support, we cannot improve as big as this without them”, he added.
