
2009 Philippine AutoCross Championship Series & Underbone Grand Prix – Davao
Pietro Jaldon and Rico Cagnaan has both something in common, March 21 & 22, 2009 will be a significant date for these two gentlemen. It will be the start for both of them to defend their titles. Both racers are holding the title Driver and Rider of the year 2008 for Davao City respectively.
Peitro Jaldon still sporting his Citroen 1300 now with a new suspension system courtesy of Cruven, a new technology in under chassis repairs. “The car is now more stable in the curves with less body role and I believe this will improve my performance on the first round of this year’s races, which is very crucial in every competition”, Jaldon said. Jaldon finishes a tight 2008 race season up against his closest rival “The Astro boy” Roy Bala. Astroboy, a Toyota Sprinter will not be seen in action any more. The question now by other participants is “Is Bala sporting a new car?” “Will this new car be enough to challenge Jaldon or maybe Bala will just be one of the many challenges Jaldon will be facing this year?” Catch all the action on race day, March 21, 2009, at Riverfront Speed City or catch it on the only Regional Motoring Television show – The Racing Line.
Rico Cagnaan will surely have his hands full after a very eventful 2008. After a team split up that happened between TMR and V-Man, will Cagnaan still be able to handle the added pressure of another team on his back? Cagnaan’s closest competition, Don Manuel, is no where to be seen for the past few weeks. Will Manuel be back on the track to regain lost points? Or will there be better competitions from rival teams? This year, 5th Gear Motorsports will also be implementing the team championship points for both the Philippine Autocross Championship Series (PACCS) and the Underbone Grand Prix (UGP). Participating teams regardless of the number of drivers/riders per team will accumulate each winning point into a common score sheet which will run from the 1st to 5th leg of the 2009 season. Aside from the points of the participants, additional points will also be given to the teams in uniform, themed tent/pit areas, attendance in 5th Gear Motorsports/The Racing Line events, and participating in 5GM/TRL events.
