Motofest 2008
The ultimate motorcycle experience, MotoFest 2008, was held last November 20 to 22, 2008 at the covered park of the Matina Town Square wherein more than 30 motorcycles were put on display from scooters all the way to the big bikes. Another first and exclusive event from the premiere motoring event organizer, 5th Gear Motorsports, who is also the producers of The Racing Line regional motoring television show.
Despite the hard shower that morning, entries came in from all over Davao and as far as Tagum City, represented by Team West. Other entries filled in the competition classes which included Scooter Class, Moped A Class, Moped B Class, Mini Bike Class, Dirt Bike Class, Muscle Bike Class, and the Sports Touring Class.
The event lasted for three days which started at 3 in the afternoon until 2 am giving time for the gimmick-going crowd to enjoy the sights and sounds of the bikes on display.
Two motorcycle manufacturers were also on hand to showcase their current line up of models. Kymco showcased their three models, the Free LX scooter, Super 8 scooter, and the JetiX moped. On the other hand, Kawasaki exhibited their best sellers the CT 100 road bike, and the Fury 125 sports moped. To complement the manufacturers, Pitrade also was at hand to give the audience an idea about motorcycle safety with their display of various helmets and protective wear.
Aside from these two motorcycle teams also showcased their bikes. TMR-VMan Petron Racing Team put on view their 5 race bikes which competed in the Davao Scooter and Underbone Grand Prix while the Kawasaki Motocross Racing Team displayed 6 dirt bikes which ranged from the cute KX 50 to the gigantic KXF 450.
National bike show winner Manuel Chien displayed once again his Suzuki Shogun R Sound Bike which boasted a new coat of yellow gold paint with more effort given to detail and accents for the bike. A refurbished sound system was also in effect. Michael Corong of the Davao Auto Club and Davao Scooter Club displayed two attractive Honda Monkeys from the 70s. One of which sported a restored look save for the pipe while the other was a custom made chopper-like bike with miniature monkey bars and saddle bags. Nido Hipolito displayed a restored Honda CB 400 while Jimmy Duyag brough in his Yamaha FJ 1200 in which both bikes welcomed the audience at the entrance of the event area.
